INFORMATION REGARDING HYPNOSIS
Many hypnotists are just that - a hypnotist. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I utilize my 40 years experience and clinical training as a counselor along with my training and experience as a Hypnotherapist to provide a unique and highly effective hypnotherapy experience. HYPNOSIS IS: · A natural process that occurs in everyone from time to time · A deeper feeling of body and mind relaxation · A more focused concentration, while remaining relaxed · An increased receptiveness to psychological and emotional suggestibility HYPNOSIS IS NOT: · Loss of control or consciousness · Weakening of will · A process that requires a weak mind · A process requiring gullibility · Some sort of magic that causes you to change behavior against your will Because of these characteristics, hypnosis is used widely in the treatment of stress and anxiety disorders, pain management /elimination, habit elimination, academic/sports performance, psychotherapy and counseling. Many people who have tried numerous other medical as well as alternative healing approaches often find hypnosis to be extremely effective. Hypnosis is a learned skill, and is therefore not usually performed on a “one shot” basis. My approach to hypnosis is to teach you to develop self-hypnosis skills through the use of office sessions and home practice. My focus is always to treat the whole person. Symptoms are often just the indication of a deeper problem. Treating the symptom will not generally get to the root issue. Even if this symptom is eliminated, the fact is that unless the root issue/problem is addressed, often the symptom will reappear or another symptom/problem will develop. So I believe that treating the whole person, not just the symptom, is the best, most effective long term approach. |
